The Foundation
The Marcus Garvey Memorial Foundation, Inc.,
founded in New York City, is a nonprofit organization whose work is
informed by the educational philosophy and ideals of Marcus Mosiah
Garvey. Garvey was the founder and leader of the Universal Negro
Improvement Association (UNIA). The largest organized mass movement
in black American history, the UNIA also had an international
presence that was unprecedented. At its peak it had members in over
fifty countries located in North America, Central America, the
Caribbean, South America, Europe, and Africa.
